DESCRIPTION:
A drawing series exploring the relationships between genetic engineering, social commodification, and architectural cloning.
Dimensions:: 16x20" - 48x48"
Executed initially with graphite on vellum, the drawings are then printed on architectural blueprint paper. A process which has since been terminated.
The imagery consists of anatomical figures integrated with architectural design; examining similarities between the interiors of buildings with the interiors of the body. I am interested in design, modules and instructional plans we make in our lives to offer systems of conformity in our society.
Using blue prints with this theme, I am playing on the coined term that DNA is the “blueprint” to human existence. Genetic engineering is a process that runs parallel to the engineering of architecture. As well, the printing process allows for making multiples, creating designs for mass production.
